I Saw, I Conquered
A very silly but satisfying game for the 2025 Boss Rush Jam. Cut away boss material by running your blade into it. Destroy the heart to win. Your cutting power is affected by movement speed and spin speed.
Latest update 2/2/25: Quck just-under-the-wire bug fix before the deadline--Robotato no longer disappears during phase 2.
2/1/25: Tutorial added, third and final boss added, and many sound effects added. The game is done! I have about 14 hours before the submission deadline, and I'm going to try to tweak a few more things, but we're good to go.
1/30/25: We have sound! Wonderful theme music from Matteo Palmer Music, and like...saw noises and stuff.
1/29/25: Tons of updates! Menu screen, and transitions between boss battles. Two fully-functioning bosses. Dash attack now has a cooldown.
1/25/25: Added an area-targeted boss missile attack. Played around with particle effects. Fixed a glitch with textures when destroying material.
1/23/25: Bosses now have a second phase once you expose their heart, smash into the heart to damage it. Beginning to move toward using materials with distinct appearances.
1/22/25: Player dash attack added. Fiddling with destructible physics some more--it's harder to start a cut, but easier to continue one.
1/21/25: Added laser beam attack, and visible electric "skeleton" for bosses.
1/20/25: Fully playable! Bosses can actually kill the player now. Beginning to build the UI, and tuned the destructible materials.
1/18/25: Probably the most important update in the entire project: player now has googly eyes. Basic boss behavior partially implemented.
Features to be implemented by end of jam:
Basic boss behavior, rotating through attacksVisible skeleton for bosses, so remaining parts aren't floating on their ownHealth and damage; player can be killedAt least 2 boss weapon types: beam or bullet, and missileDash attack for playerAt least 3 bosses with different behaviorVisual distinction between materials of differing toughnessCooldown for player dash attack
Other things to do if there's time:
- Different types of power-ups
Sound! (1/30/25 partially implemented)- Support for mouse and touch control
